Recruitment information

recruitment Information

All applicants must be students at James Madison University, with at least two semesters remaining at JMU. Our members come from a wide variety of academic backgrounds; while the Madison Consulting Club is hosted within JMU's College of Business, we aim to recruit diverse majors and studies at JMU. There is no "right" major or applicant for the Madison Consulting Club; instead, we seek members with a common sense of passion, excellence, and drive for our mission.

To apply for the Madison Consulting Club, we encourage applicants to attend multiple Interest Nights in the Spring, to experience the Madison Consulting Club and network with members. Following these Interest Nights, interested students submit a formal written application, which includes GPA, resume and experience, and a short-response section. Demonstrated interest (attending Interest Nights or networking with MCC leaders) is taken into account as a bonus for an application, but is not required to join.

Applicants are expected to submit a resume; if you need a resume template, feel free to use this template. (Credit: Wonsulting)

Tips to receive an interview

Analyst Interviews

If invited to the second stage of MCC's application process, applicants will complete back-to-back interviews with our Executive Board and other leaders in the organization. Our interviews are designed to model the interview processes of large consulting firms to help prepare all members for future full-time and internship interviews.

The first interview is a Behavioral Interview, meant to allow the interviewers to get to know you better and further discover if your experience and personality fit MCC. Interviewers are looking for applicants to be conversational, passionate, and interested.

The second interview is a Case Interview. When interviewees are invited to interview, they are given a short business case study written by our Executive Board. Interviewees are asked to prepare a short presentation, including a case recap and strategy recommendations, and are evaluated based on the visual presentation, industry knowledge, and case and solution strategy. Further details and expectations are provided upon the invitation.
