our organization
our founding
The Madison Consulting Club was officially founded on February 10th, 2023, in Antwerp, Belgium, by four students: Kevin Scanlon, Benjamin Sexton, Cian Doyle, and Carson Tighe. While studying abroad, the team found that while a very high number of students were accepting positions in the consulting industry, there was no solidified group for students to learn and experience the industry as a student. At JMU, there are plenty of major-specific resources for consulting, but a student-led consulting group had not yet existed before the inception of the Madison Consulting Club.
The Madison Consulting Club was meticulously designed to provide members with a holistic experience of the consulting industry and to cater to a wide variety of students, offering opportunities for members both within JMU's College of Business and beyond. Each lesson, meeting, and event was carefully structured, focusing on our mission of equipping members with the experience, network, and tools to thrive in the consulting industry. MCC's co-founders wanted to create a group that allowed students to distinguish themselves in job interviews, as well as provide a community of like-minded, driven individuals to build a network during and beyond a student's time at James Madison University.
And thus, officially launching in the Fall of 2023, the Madison Consulting Club was born.

Organizational Structure
Our organizational structure has been diligently designed to ensure a positive member experience with the Madison Consulting Club, allow for a large portion of members to experience leadership opportunities, and still allow our club to function optimally. Members of the Madison Consulting Club join as an Analyst, where they complete our semester-long Analyst Program. After successful completion of the program, they become Consultants for the organization, where they work with a client to complete one Pro-Bono Consulting project each semester. After completion of the Analyst Program, members are encouraged to apply for higher positions, including Project Manager roles, Leadership Team roles, or Executive Board roles. All positions, excluding Executive Board, are one-semester long to allow all members the opportunity to implement fresh ideas.

Our mission is to provide members with hands-on consulting experience, professional development opportunities, and a supportive community to grow their skills.
serving the community
In addition to professional development, our club takes pride in using our skills to benefit the local Harrisonburg community. We partner with small businesses, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs to provide pro-bono consulting services. These projects allow members to apply their knowledge while making a positive impact.

A core focus of the Madison Consulting Club is helping members build outstanding resumes and preparing them for the consulting recruitment process throughout and beyond the Analyst Program. Our experienced members provide guidance on case interviews, resume reviews, and networking strategies to maximize students' competitiveness for internships and full-time roles at top firms.
